I used to like to shoot the rifle from the offhand position. The best caliber is the 458 Win Mag I got in Boronda. A minor problem is if you’re a hunter, the ring or the lanyard on the Savage 11-GL can snag on a branch or even your own clothing and possibly pop your receiver cover off.
I like the the 458 Win Mag best for deer hunting. I got my Savage 45-70 at the Wiley Outdoor Sports in Boronda.
